Topaz 6CA7.

Now using my newly developed modified Pi wound output transformers for fully balanced DC resistance, AC impedance, and low distortion.
The new output transformers measure 20hz to 20khz +/-0.2db.
What this means to you is the output transformers are not a limiting factor so no design compromises are needed to compensate.
Transformers used in some sub $3K amplifiers can measure as poorly as 20hz to 20khz +/- 5db. In these cases, massive circuit design compromises need to be made just to achieve barely acceptable sonic and measured results.

The Topaz 6CA7 is a stereo (two-channel) amplifier rated at over 30 watts per channel into 8 ohms.
The input stage of the Topaz can have a big impact on the sound quality of the amplifier, and good quality driver vacuum tubes should be used. The Topaz comes supplied with a set of three new JJ or Tung-sol 6SL7GT small signal valves. The output stage of the Topaz 6CA7 is a standard self biasing setup that, whilst not giving maximum output, gives maximum reliability. It also avoids the use of silicon diodes in the bias network.
The sound from this amplifier is extremely musical, being a true ultralinear connected Class A amplifier, it will give a sound that isn’t fatiguing and is very accurate especially through the critical vocal ranges. It will drive difficult speakers quite well and has very good bass control. Running in class A is the best possible sound for this type of design. The 6CA7’s (=EL34) in this amplifier give a beautiful full musical sound with plenty of controlled bass punch and crystal clear highs.

The Topaz uses very little negative feedback (less than 4db), this is testament to its stable design and use of quality parts.
Price from $2495.00

Topaz KT120.

Now using my newly developed modified Pi wound output transformers for fully balanced DC resistance, AC impedance, and low distortion.
The new output transformers now measure 20hz to 20khz +/-0.1db.
What this means to you is the output transformers are not a limiting factor so no design compromises are needed to compensate.
Transformers used in some sub $3K amplifier can measure as poorly as 20hz to 20khz +/- 5db. In these cases, massive circuit design compromises need to be made just to achieve barely acceptable sonic and measured results.
Based on the Topaz EL34 circuit, the KT120 version runs larger power supply featuring a 900va power transformer and dual rectifiers.

Tempest KT120.

Using my newly developed modified Pi wound output transformers for fully balanced DC resistance, AC impedance, and low distortion.
The new output transformers now measure 20hz to 20khz +/-0.1db.
What this means to you is the output transformers are not a limiting factor so no design compromises are needed to compensate.
The Tempest uses valve rectifiers in it's power supply to offer the user a true all valve experience. The power supply of the Tempest uses a massively over sized power transformer rated at 600VA, dual rectifiers, hand wound filter choke, and German made F&T filter capacitors. What this means is the amplifiers operates whisper quiet and there is never a shortage of power available for those times when no-one is about ;).

The output transformers on the Tempest are wound with 20 interleaved layers on a large core size for extended bass response. A special winding technique is used to improve detail, micro detail and improve damping.

The Tempest can be biased to run KT66, KT77, KT88, KT90, 6L6gc, 6550, EL34, 6CA7 and the new Tung-sol KT120 output valves.

The bias on the Tempest is easily set by the owner. Above chassis adjustment point and build in meter make it a 1 minute task. Once set, it only needs to be checked every 4 to 8 weeks to keep the Tempest running at its best. (shown on Jarrah plinth +$50.00)

Time Machine 300B.

The Time Machine is a stereo (two-channel) amplifier rated at 9 watts per channel into 8 ohms. It is comprised of two main stages: the input stage and the output stage. The input stage can have a big impact on the sound quality of an amplifier, and good quality driver vacuum tubes should be used. This is why some of the best current production 6SN7’s are included. The output stage of the Time Machine is a standard self-biasing setup that, whilst not giving maximum output, gives maximum reliability. It also avoids the use of silicon diodes in the bias network. This is then coupled to custom wound output transformers (the heart and soul of every valve amplifier). Every output transformer is painstakingly wound by myself to exacting specifications. The TM300B output transformers are wound with 18 layers of parallel 0.25mm secondary windings interleaved within the primary windings to offer a level of detail and micro detail only found in very few amplifiers.

The Time Machine represents a state of the art “Low-Tech” high-end vacuum tube amplifier that is affordable, and can be used to glorify the beauty and passion of recorded music in one's home.

Artisan 150

The Artisan 150 dual mono amplifier is rated at 45 watts class A per channel into 8 ohms each.
The Artisan uses minimal added global feedback (less than 4db), this is added via a tertiary winding in the output transformer. I have found that using a small amount of feedback in this manner had only positive effects on both measured and sonic performance.
The sound from this amplifier is extremely musical, being a true ultralinear connected Class A amplifier, it will give a sound that isn’t fatiguing and is very accurate especially through the critical vocal ranges. It will drive difficult speakers very well and has very good bass control. Contact information

The current lead time is 8 months to 10 months.
Nearly all amplifiers are built to order. Very rarely are we able to "catch up" with orders to the point where we have any in stock for immediate sale.
20/04/24. Still having difficulty sourcing some components. 6SL7 tubes will now be either JJ or Tung-sol depending on availability at the time. I'm currently not taking orders for the Time Machine preamplifier as the supplier of a specific custom attenuator is no longer in business.
21/02/23. There are still delays sourcing some component and tubes. Shipping prices are still excessive, especially for international deliveries.
29/04/22. Due to the on going war in Europe. Russian tube prices and component prices have doubled, and even tripled in some cases (import tariffs). As such I've had to reflect the increased build cost in the list price of my amplifiers.
3/02/22. I managed to get a full order of the smaller transformer covers (for the output transformers and filter choke). Unfortunately the power transformer covers wont be ready until late Feb, early March 2022. I do have 4 sets of the larger covers still in stock so I'll be able to get those amps done, but again another month or two of delays for the rest.

I like to discuss details before accepting an order, as our amplifiers are not always the best option for all systems and customer requirements.
Custom orders require a 30% non-refundable deposit. All other orders do not require a deposit at this stage.
Shipping costs with TNT couriers have recently increased by a whopping $60.50 for delivery to residential properties. New delivery charges are listed below;
Victoria $135.00
Tasmania, NSW, SA, Southern QLD, $145.00
Far north QLD, NT, WA $180.00
Artisan and large format amplifiers adds $100.00 to shipping cost.
International Customers.
Currently not accepting international orders due to shipping issues.
Payment:I'll ask for full payment just prior to building your amplifier. Build takes ~2 weeks, then around 1 week for shipping.I only accept international bank transfer as form of payment. Shipping guide AU$1,200.00 to AU$2,000.00 depending on location. That's not a typo. Prices have skyrocketed since the covid.
International customers are not required to pay our local sales tax, so this saving helps offset some of the shipping cost.
